Have you gotten to a “real” orthodontist?
Not all orthodontists are the same: You should pay heed to this when choosing a dentist!
When selecting the dentist who’ll treat you, you ought to check their qualifications and make sure they’re actually an orthodontist and are working exclusively in orthodontics:

Dr. Christine Kownatzki – your orthodontist

Dr. Christine Kownatzki is licensed as a “real” orthodontist (dental specialist in orthodontics) on three continents. After her German examination of dentistry and acquiring her medical license in Germany, she completed a three-year training as a orthodontist at Columbia University in New York. In addition, she passed the american and german dental exam and obtained American specialization as orthodontist. She studied state-of-the-art orthodontic methods directly with the masters in braces and aligner technology and was also trained in the conventional skills of orthodontics. As an orthodontist, Dr. Christine Kownatzki is licensed in Germany, the United States and Australia.
more about Dr. Kownatzki

Orthodontist

Orthodontists are certified dental specialists who, after graduation as dentists,
successfully complete a three-year full-time training in the field of orthodontics with a final dental specialist examination. Due to their experience and the specialization in orthodontic treatments, dental specialists in orthodontics are capable of recognizing rare growth patterns, implement individual treatment options gently and, if need be, correctly respond to adverse tissue reactions.

Dentist, M. Sc. orthodontics

A dentist with the title of Master of Science (M. Sc.) in orthodontics is not an orthodontist (dental specialist) but has completed an additional part-time training course. In contrast to the three-year specialist training for orthodontics, the training is shorter, and the dentist is not entitled to the title of orthodontist.

Dentist, focus on orthodontics

In principle, every trained dental practitioner in Germany can offer orthodontic services – without any special qualifications. The designation “with a focus on orthodontics” is possible after a few courses and with little experience in treatment.
